At It's My Trades, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What information we collect
We may collect the following data when you use our platform:
- Name and contact details (e.g. email address, phone number)
- Business or trade details (if you're a tradesperson)
- User-submitted reviews or messages
- Usage data (like IP address, device type, browser, and pages visited)
We do not collect payment data, as the platform is completely free to use.
How we use your data
We use your information to:
- Display accurate listings and profiles
- Help users contact each other through the site
- Improve the site and user experience
- Respond to your enquiries or support requests
- Prevent fraud or misuse of the platform
We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
Our mobile app
If you are a tradesperson using the It's My Trades app, we also process:
- Your email address, to send you a one-time sign-in link and code (the app has no password)
- Your business details, trades, postcode, logo and the documents you upload (such as ID, insurance and qualifications), to set up and verify your business
- A push notification token and the name of your device, to send you alerts about new jobs. You can switch these alerts off in the app at any time
- Which jobs you take, and the customer's contact details for those jobs, so you can get in touch with them
- Which of our partners' adverts were shown to you and tapped, counted per advert so we can report totals to the partner. We do not share your personal details with advertisers and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites
The app uses camera and photo access only when you choose to photograph or upload a document or logo.
Data storage & security
Your data is stored securely using modern, encrypted systems. Documents you upload are private and are seen only by you and our team. We only keep your data as long as necessary to provide our services or comply with legal obligations.
Sharing your data
We may share data:
- With service providers who help us operate the site (e.g. web hosting, email delivery)
- If required by law or to protect our legal rights
We never share your personal details for marketing purposes without your permission.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or limit certain types of data processing

Deleting your account
In the app: open Account, tap Delete account and confirm. Your account is deleted straight away.
Without the app: email contact@itsmytrades.com from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. We will do it within 30 days and confirm by email.
Deleting your account removes your name, email address, phone numbers, business details, logo, uploaded documents and notification tokens, and takes your business off the site. We keep a record that the jobs you took were taken, without your details, so the customers' own records stay complete, and anything the law requires us to keep.
Data outside the UK
Some services we use may store data outside the UK or EEA. We only work with providers that meet strict data protection standards.
Cookie policy
We use cookies to help our website work properly, improve your experience, and track usage.
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help us remember things like whether you're logged in, your preferences, and which pages you've visited. Cookies do not give us access to your computer or any personal information.
